The Savannah

The Savannah is a tall lean graceful cat with striking dark spots and other bold markings. It is a domestic breed which closely resembles the African Serval, but is smaller in size.

The Savannahs are affectionate and outgoing, with exceptionally long neck, legs, and tall ears, as well as a medium length tail, the Savannah is both unusual and beautiful.

The Savannah is also an exceptionally graceful and well balanced cat.

PERSONALITY

One of the most amazing traits of the Savannah is its remarkable personality. It is a very curious, assertive cat that seeks out adventure at every opportunity.

They are a extremely loyal cat who will bond strongly with its human family. The Savannah breed is a very effectionate feline that will show their love by greeting family members at the door, following them around the house and giving frequent headbutts.

Many Savannahs love to play in water. They can easily be trained to walk on a leash with a harness, play fetch, come when called, and much more

The Savannah cat is a unique and amazing feline. Everyone who owns or have met a Savannah will say that they have never met a cat like them and become huge lovers of the breed as the Savannahs have a very "addictive" personality.

The Savannah is the perfect pet for someone who is seeking a unique and active pet.

 TRAITS

The Savannah has many traits that make it unique and stand out from any other breed of cat.

They have large, tall ears that are set right on top of its head and hooded eyes that are flat across the top. This gives it an exotic look unlike any other breed.

They have a very long body and long legs like their ansector the African Serval. Savannahs also have a very long neck and a short, thick tail, adding to its distinctiveness.

The Savannah comes in a wide variety of colors, red, brown, cool brown, silver, snow, charcoal, with brown or the very desirable ink black spotting.

FILIAL GENERATIONS

The F in F1 stands for  'filial' and refers to how many generations away from the Serval it is. So an F1 is one generation from the Serval (has a Serval parent), an F2 is two generations removed so has a Serval grandparent, and so on.

The other classification you will hear in reference to Savannahs is a letter coding. This has to do with when and where in the pedigree outcrosses (non-Savannah domestic cats) have been used,

A means that one parent is a (non-Savannah) domestic outcross

B means that both parents are Savannahs

C means that both parents and grandparents are all Savannahs

SBT means that parents, grandparents, and great-grandparents are all Savannahs

The Bengal is famous for its luxurious short, soft coat which may appear in either the spotted or marble pattern. Some Bengal's coats feature something called glitter. This is when the pelt looks as though it has been sprinkled with gold and you can see it  "glitter" in the light.

The spotted pattern is most well-known with the "leopard look" as the coat features clear spots and rosettes. The Bengal's spots can be large or small and often include rosettes, like the spots a Leopards, which are two- toned spots. Bengals may also be marbled, which has a swirling pattern that appears as random swirls or thick diagonal and horizontal lines flowing across the coat of the cat.

The bengals coat colour comes in a range of colors; cool grey to vibrant shades of golden, bronze, copper or mahogany, snow, melanestic, AND a fairly new developement of the charcoal color.

Bengals are medium to large cats, from 6-15 pounds, with males generally being larger than females.
